This is an organization dedicated to all things viola.
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is based in
Little Rock, Arkansas. They usually play one
concert a year in Jonesboro at the Fowler Center on
the ASU campus.
Barrage is a violin ensemble based in Canada. They
put on a high energy and very dynamic show. You
can see some examples of their performance style on
YouTube here, here and here.
The Delta String Quartet is a local professional
ensemble specializing in elegant music for all
occasions. All four members are also in the Delta
Symphony Orchestra. They are: Rebecca
Markowski, violin; Marcia Burns, violin; Paul
Markowski, viola; and Elaine Bartee, cello.
Jonesboro's and Northeast Arkansas' very own
professional symphony orchestra. The DSO is the
only professional orchestra in northeast Arkansas.
Most of their concerts are performed at the Fowler
Center on the Arkansas State University campus.
They provide the opportunity to hear and see live
concerts locally. Ticket prices are very reasonable
and include student and senior discounts. Ms.
Rebecca plays violin and Mr. Paul plays viola in the
Delta Symphony.
The Memphis Symphony Orchestra is based in
Memphis Tennessee. They usually play one concert
a year in Jonesboro at the Fowler Center on the
ASU campus.
The SAA is an organization for parents, students,
and teachers involved with the Suzuki Method. The
site provides much information and many resources.

Mr. Paul's dream is a Jensen 5-String Electric Viola.
These guys make machine pegs that work like fine
tuners but look just like regular wooden tuning pegs.
They have developed a new kind of shoulder rest
that connects to the instrument by way of the chin
rest clamp. Mr. Paul has one on his viola and finds it
to be very stable and comfortable. And... it never
falls off!
